Nothing in life is instant and easy especially success. Work hard, don’t stop working hard, stop procrastinating and work hard… that’s all I know

Still some of these adverts are quite funny. They are just long web page type lists of recommendations and testimonials from fictitious people who all appear to be soooo successful they are dripping money from their sleeves. Well written copy is all, probably done by some marketing graduate with no life experience.

What I want to see in an advert is:

‘Try this; if you work hard and stick to our guidelines you have a fair chance of making some money.’

Now that is a tag line that would hook me in.

Here’s some giggling babies to cheer you up.

We go to the same store every week, we know the faces of the staff and they know us and as we are a 2 trolley family with 3 kids, it is quite the chore doing the weekly shop. My wife likes to arrange the goods into the trolleys, ready for the conveyer (which she likes to fill up before starting to ring stuff through) the shopping is separated into how it will be packed (we have our own big bags) so that the whole process can be one smooth transaction from shelf to cupboard or fridge.  This is all highly organised and choreographed by my excellent wife.

Usually during the till bit at the end, we get to chat to an assistant who by in large are a bunch of familiar, friendly people who go out of their way to make us feel special. Not the last time though. We ended up with a sour faced woman who seemed to have a master’s degree in dirty looks. She put this particular skill to use when my wife politely asked her if she could fill up the conveyer before she started ringing through the items. The women literally sneered at her, looked her up and down, shrugged and said if you must… What all that about?

She was damn right rude, we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome, in a store that we spend hundreds of pounds in every week. It was yet another example of poor service and a ‘don’t give a toss’ attitude that we are coming to expect from British service staff.

Well:

The store was Sainsbury’s in Chesterfield.

The time and date was Friday 2^nd October 09 around 12:30pm

The rude checkout girl was called Jackie

And I am sending this as an email to Sainsbury’s customer service centre. I will post the reply (if I get one)

So I took him to Leicester New Walk Museum, where I know that they have a rather large dinosaur skeleton.

It was actually really good and well worth the drive (Frikin M1 widening roadwork’s!!!!) It not only had loads of interesting exhibitions it had a whole upper floor of sports interaction stuff like basket ball and running time trials and stuff that kids love. Fantastic!

Now the reason I’m added this to the blog is this.

The staff were crap.

And they locked the toilets!!! What the hell is all that about!

I have three young kids and I have to trail them right through a museum full of people to get a key (attached to a plastic dinner plate??) to unlock a toilet when my 4 year old is scrunching himself up and yelling “DADDY I NEED TO PEE!” at the top of his lungs after I had made him walk through a museum full of people to get to a locked toilet in the first place.  IDIOTS!

So when I approached a member of staff and politely asked her about this, she was aggressive and abrasive and spat the words.

‘It’s cause people keep abusing them and we haven’t got the staff’

How the hell do you abuse a toilet?.. ‘hey loo… you smell of wee’

Get your act together Museum people. You have got it nearly right!
